My recent freelance experience includes working for Emerald Group Publishing on their new Emerald Management Xtra site, and for Pearson Education on their CD materials for the Diploma in Digital Applications.
Before that, I worked in open and distance learning for higher education. I created interactive CDs for a Computer Science degree for the University of London External Progamme (Goldsmiths College); for for Luton Business School I helped set up a distance learning programme.
Prior to that I taught publishing for three years at West Herts College, where I also managed a course programme and gained valuable classroom experience.
My previous career was in publishing: most recently, I was Product Development Manager at Butterworth Heinemann, responsible for developing the Pergamon Flexible Learning brand of management and professional training materials. I have also held editorial positions for The Open College, Thorsons Publishing Group, Age Concern, Longmans, Cassells and Hamlyn.
I hold an MSc in Information Technology and Learning from the University of Lancaster Department of Education Research, where I did a special project on collaborative learning using the web, as well as a masters degree (MLitt Oxon) in French literature, and an MA in French Language and Literature from Saint Andrews University.
I have gained a module in web development from the University of Luton (2003), and a certificate in Online Education and Training from the University of London (Institute of Education). I have also attended numerous training courses in web development.
