This guide offers an overview of some of the issues you will encounter whilst studying at a distance and in English. It should be read in conjunction with the recommended readings and as early as possible in your course.
Both the Subject Guide and this site contain activities.
Many of the activities have right or wrong answers, for which you will
receive feedback in this version. However, sometimes no answers are given
because your answer will depend upon your experience and the point at
which you encounter the activity during your course. These and other activies
which ask you to present information are designed to create active discussion
between you, your tutor, and your fellow students. In
particular they are designed to help you to identify your own areas that
need improving, and your own strengths on which you can build.
